Transient tax income is missing throughout the state!

As tourism is down and Maui Co. is continuing to enforce the shut down of transient vacation rentals…we need to ask ourselves who is really hurting?  The property managers, the property owners, landscapers, pool professionals, cleaning services, the neighborhoods values, the local shops and restauraunts, activity providers, wedding professinals, the schools, roads, and other budget items for our Co. to address.  The answer is all of the above.  Look around at the parking lots, vacant storefronts, homes for rent (they said we needed affordable housing, why is no one renting…perhaps its because their income is missing)….Our island is in need of some simulations and heads in beds may be part of our answer.

Food for thought.

Does SIZE matter???? The answer is absolutely!

Innaccurate square footage invites trouble!  When the housing market is strong, people don’t generally care as much…but in a soft market buyers are expecting more.  Realtors are often using tax records for their information and often times that may be wrong.  Public records can be outdated with additions, improvments and other oversights.  We want to protect the consumer but there are times when the information that we are using may be inaccurate and we do use disclaimers to protect from someone elses error.  We have a standard its called American Measurement Standard (AMS) and many people do use this, however, it is notformalized.  Remember when reviewing your documents, appraisals etc. that there may be an approximation in the measurement of your future dream home—we know location, location, location is key to Real Estate valuation and perhaps now is the time to take note on the square footage and what our buyers are buying.

Maui: The Three R’s Reduce, Reuse, Recycle

I think Jack Johnson had it right….the three R’s.   He and Curious George are trying to get the word out!

“If you’re going to the market to buy some juice
You’ve got to bring your own bags and you learn to reduce your waste
And if your brother or your sister’s got some cool clothes
You could try them on before you buy some more of those
Reuse, we’ve got to learn to reuse
And if the first two R’s don’t work out
And if you’ve got to make some trash
Don’t throw it out”…recycle.

If you live on Maui and want to help our oceans and landfills you can and its easy- See Below for a FREE way to get rid of plastic, glass and more.

Recycling throughout the nation has become an important part of peoples’ lives. In many counties throughout the country it is mandatory to separate and sort recyclables from regular rubbish.

For some businesses and residents this poses little problem. Some businesses, and residents, have separate containers for their recyclables. However, people who have busy schedules cannot keep up. The result in Maui is a considerable amount of recyclables still going to the land fill. In addition, Maui County will not have curb side pick up available for another 3 years.

PACAG has been created for just these reasons. PACAG has a unique way to solve the recycling blues There is NO COST to you, or your business. PACAG will pick up your refundable recyclables at no charge to you. You do not have to sort and PACAG will provide pick up of other recyclables as well. This service is free if there is enough HI.5 material, otherwise a minimum charge will be negotiated.

PACAG can set up at events, personal celebrations, the beach, at home, at community centers, whatever your need PACAG is there to help sort it out from start to finish.. PACAG can supply containers.

PACAG is a good fit for most business, residents and events who do not have time to do it ALL, and are concerned about our growing land fill explosion on Maui. Our staff is experienced; our workers are dependable, hard working and friendly.

Call PACAG. We will help assess your need for pick up. We are looking forward to serving your recycling needs and the needs of the growing concern for our aina’s future. MAUI PLASTIC AND CANS AND GLASS can help.
