I was thinking today how wonderful it is to work here in Puako ,which has such an amazing Hawaiian history. The Hawaiian way of life has always interested me and the culture continually takes me to the next level of understanding the joy of traditions. In this fast paced world with cell phones ringing at all hours of the day, on line communications , and daily visitor’s coming into the office, we sometimes get going so fast that we forget to stop and smell the plumerias.

Driving down from Waimea the other day I noticed a sign someone had put up that was hand painted. On this little board it said “Smile and Enjoy Life”, how great a person actually took the time to paint a little board that stated such a simple truth. Hawaii brings out the beauty of life. Living and working on the Big Island gives us the great position to express our Aloha to the people in our neighborhoods and abroad to the many people who frequent the islands.

The Hawaiian people have so much to offer, what other cultures could be exposed to Western ideas and technology only in the last 150 years and be so adaptive? I am sure there are many around the world , Hawaii stands out.The Hawaiian way of living can teach the world conservation and the true meaning of caring for the Aina. The abundance is everywhere, take time to truly enjoy these wonders. Have a great Labor day weekend.
