How wonderful spring is definitely here. Maybe it was just the time of year but I say, this weekend really saw mol’ man winter leave Kauai….yea, I know not much sympathy for most of you who read this. We were blessed with good weather and now that all the “AOAO” biz was done, we all just took the time to relax around the pool for some easy conversation and libation. BTW: If anyone missed meetings and would appreciate some highlights, please shout out….I would be happy to tell all I know.

Tim pauses for this photo op with Deedee and Chris of Poipu Sands…speaking of which we have seen some amazing prices in that complex lately. We recently saw a two bedroom ocean view unit go to escrow about two weeks ago….priced at $599,000….it needed to be renovated but all things considered thats about half of what they were selling for two years ago. What do you think? a decent time to be a buyer, non?

Every Year during the week of Po’ipu Kai Resort’s Annual Homeowner meetings a majority of homeowners in the resort gather to discuss the year’s business and to enjoy a fellowship agenda along with it. As homeowners and business operators on site here at Poipu Kai, Makai Properties and Suite Paradise co sponsor THE party of the week. In past years we have tied this to a little friendly tennis outing but this year someone else scooped the courts so we had to change things up a bit and it turned out to be a very good thing. As it turns out many homeowners assumed this great party was just for tennis players so by moving it away from tennis and just chillin’ at the pool to simply visit opne another, brought a record breaking attendance this year.

At long last the fourth leg that extends from the new Po’ipu traffic circle has been completed. I drove it for the first time yesterday and it offers a whole new landscape to enjoy as you make your way down into Poipu. For those who commute from Kalaheo…you now have some fresh scenery to get you there! What was a snarling mess of construction last year is now a Poipu backdrop we can all enjoy.

After a bit of rain earlier this week, as these shots reveal we are having a glorious Poipu day!
Lots of activities are planned for the next few months. It is that time when all of us on site at Poipu Kai Resort are planning for a busy spring. Early May is when a great many homeowners are here on property. It is a time of meetings, fellowship and a lot of fun. Suite Paradise and Makai Priperties is again co-sponsoring the annual Homeowners Round Robin Tennis Outing with great “competition”, food, fun and prizes. I always enjoy seeing everyone again.

Funny how it goes when I talk to folks elswhere in the country, the subject of weather always comes up. I got no sympathy as I mentioned to a client early this morning, “Its getting to feel like winter”, I said, “it was dipping under 65 degrees!”… “Awwww geee thats toooo bad, I hear as a reply. Hey we have no heat in our houses thats darn nippy when you pad to the “facilities” at 2 in the morning!
Seriously, it may seem subtle but when you live here changing seasons are not quite as subtle as one might think. Over the past few days we can officially say we are in the first winter storm of the season. Howling Kona winds (that refers to southerlies FYI) brought lots of rain to wash the island clean. In this case mother nature did a bit of pruning beside court #1 at The Poipu Kai Resort….ah well…such is life at least we don’t have to put chains on our tires!
