KONA FISH – Photos from Friends!
LAST WEEK WHILE I WORKED, my husband and dive friends spent the day diving some of my favorite Kona sites. He came home with a story about getting a free manicure from the Cleaner Shrimp near the Green buoy just outside Honokohau Harbor. Now we’ve been to that rock before and there’s always been a big eel with those shrimp. “The eel was gone.” he said. Well check out the photo above. Bruce Melasky took this shot the same day – same dive!

PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN CRAB is our new name for this beauty. We’ve dubbed it that because the mark between his eyes looks a little like The Black Pearl’s flag. At first I thought it was a Red Swimming Crab but when I looked it up in Hawaii’s Sea Creatures book I realized this one does not have back tips on the claws and black eyes. I guess the eyes have it! Sorry…

I HAVE LOOKED AND LOOKED for these and never been lucky enough to find one. Photo by Bruce Melasky.

I’VE GONE DIVING WITH my friend Kathy, seen in the photo above. I’ll try to bring back a fish tale and a picture or two.
