FROM KONA WITH Aloha to Cambodia
I’d like to introduce you to some of my wonderful Kona friends. Let me begin with Mindy Berry, a fellow Realtor and a very good person. What follows is an e-mail from her during here recent trip to Cambodia.
Sok sabai jie te!
Greetings from Cambodia!
Dear family & friends,
Here I am in hot sweaty Cambodia with my Dad and LeeAnn holding one of the little children. As you can see by the skinny cows, it is a very poor country. Yet the village people are rich in love.
It is my Dad’s hearts desire to not only leave a legacy for his children and grandchildren but to live it with us while he is alive. He wants us to join him in helping the children at risk, taking care of widows and feeding the poor. This is nothing new to me as his daughter – he has mentored me all my life regarding this. Last year, he brought his grandchildren over to Cambodia to reach out and love the dear people. I was scheduled to come, but due to medical reasons at the last minute I had to cancel my trip.
So it was really special for me to make the trip with him this year. Dad kissed and held as many children in his arms as he could, hugged and prayed for the widows he met, and gave and gave to the poor. What an amazing legacy he is living and will leave in the hearts of so many!
The village of Bati is full of kind and gracious people. The little ones truly are “precious in His sight”. The elderly take in the many orphaned children and give them the greatest gift – love.

The small church in the village all watch out for one another – it’s wonderful. They welcomed us with open arms and look forward to us working with them in their efforts to get healthy, start business’s (raising pigs), helping the orphans and widows, etc. As you can imagine, the need is great.
My time is almost over here and I am coming back richer than when I left – much richer. My heart is full with love and kindness from these dear Cambodian people. What a rich treasure that is!
But I am ready to come home to my Bear (Marty) … the day after I arrive we celebrate our 32nd anniversary. Wow – time sure flies when you’re in love.
Love and hugs to you all,
Mindy
Well, that’s Mindy. You see how special she is! In time I will share more about her with you and introduce you to some other Kona Friends who are just as interesting and special. If you’d like to know more about Mindy, her Dad, and their project, let me know. Oh, how are you going to spend your summer vacation?
