I moved to Kauai exactly 20 years ago. I won’t say where I first settled other than to say that it was a 45 minute drive to Koloa (without stoplights… there was only one on the entire island… back in the day) but I found myself making the trek daily, in search of a sunny beach. I couldn’t help but notice that it would be cloudy or raining all over the rest of island but when I hit the “Haul Cane Crossing” (now Kukuiula Development’s service entrance) the shadow of the clouds along Poipu Road turned to full sunlight right before my very eyes, without fail. I was raised in Southern California but I’d never seen such beautiful white sand beaches, teaming with ocean-life or met such friendly people (full of the Aloha Spirit). Now, I can choose to live anywhere in the world… but as the saying goes, “Lucky I live Koloa!!!” And even luckier still, I get to live in the Koloa Estates!
