Great Pools - Part 2 August 29, 2008
Posted by brobinson in : For buyers, Mauna Lani Resort , trackbackThe topic of “great pools” at resort condo/townhome communities comes down to something much more than pools: how much do the shared amenities create a lifestyle benefit that justifies the monthly association dues condo owners pay to maintain them?
Wednesday night was the long-awaited blessing and official opening of the recreation area shared by Kulalani and Ka Milo at the Mauna Lani Resort. This unusual situation of two communities built by unrelated developers sharing a common area has raised some eyebrows and probably kept a few prospective buyers on the sidelines. But let’s look at the positives.
With a larger number of homes sharing the costs, a larger and nicer community center could be built, one with more potential to be used. Agents attending the opening were particularly impressed with the spacious workout room, and the separate lap pool where adults can swim in peace
while families frolic in the larger free-form pool!
Notice how easily the large crowd fits in the covered entertainment area.
Does this qualify as a “great” pool or recreational area? From the lifestyle perspective, if the pools and workout equipment are actually used by the residents of these communities, that certainly will set them apart from the competition in the newer part of the Mauna Lani resort.
A hui hou,
