Kekaha’s Monthly Community Meeting Tonight at 7:00 pm
County officials kickoff of a series of public meetings tonight, Wednesday, August 20, 2008 at 7:00 pm at the Kekaha Neighborhood Center. The purpose of the meetings is to inform the community about landfill related issues, (yes we have one in paradise), such as the status of the Kekaha Landfill lateral expansion, requirements for modern landfill design, and community concerns. Q & A to follow.

Stop the dump expansion. How can we have Kauai’s only dump on an eleven mile white sand beach, Hawaii’s longest. This is really wrong; find an interior middle of island site. Kekaha has the trucks pounding all the way from Haena to Kekaha. How can you justify the longest haul possible to place a dump? Eco-friendly? Traffic facing large trucks on two land roads constantly?
