There will be lots of post race activities and there will be a half and a whole marathon course. If you are on island, come cheer these fierce competitors on (this will be my first half marathon) and enjoy the festivities.
And if you are looking for a lovely home with Italian flair under the Kauai sun, you must view Hale Tuscana. Supporting the community is important August 20, 2009
Posted by Sarah in : Updates , add a commentThis past Saturday, the Real Estate Community came together for the Kauai Board of Realtor’s Rock and Bowl Fundraiser. The funds raised in this wonderful event will go towards the scholarship program aimed to help the students of Kauai with their continuing education.
The turn out to this event was phenomenal and everyone had a great time. Our company, Coldwell Banker Bali Hai Realty, Inc. sponsored two lanes. One of the lanes was aimed for the adults and the other was for the keiki to bowl. You did not have to be a great bowler, you just needed to let loose and have fun. There was a silent auction with a lot of great items donated by various businesses around the island. There was great food, fun music, and everyone had a blast!
The Kauai Board of Realtors surpassed their goal in this fundraiser and hopefully, they will do it again next year!
Now for some business news; I have a great listing in Kalihiwai right across from Kalihiwai Bay that has just had a price reduction. This lovely two bedroom, two bath beach home is now priced at $1,450,000. This home has ocean views and is tucked back into a little piece of paradise that needs to be seen to be truly appreciated. If you are interested in this home, or any of my other spectacular listings, please give me a call.
Here are a few of my favorite things to do on Kauai July 31, 2009
Posted by Sarah in : Updates , add a commentI enjoy stand up paddling up the Hanalei River or hiking the Hihimanu Trail while taking in all of the beauty this island has to offer. This economy affects us all one way or another June 30, 2009
Posted by Sarah in : Updates , add a commentDue to the mandate by Governor Lingle to initiate mandatory State Furloughs by State Employees to cover her budget deficit, the Bureau of Conveyances has issued the following:
The law requires the Bureau of Conveyances to be open to the public Monday through Friday, except on State Holidays. Effective July 1, 2009, all Bureau employees will be scheduled one furlough day per week for each of the weeks with a scheduled furlough day.
How this affects YOUR escrow:
- No Special Recordings: The Bureau of Conveyances will no longer allow specials regardless of the liability (dollar) amount.
- No Pulls: The Bureau of Conveyances will no longer allow documents to be pulled once they have been submitted for recording.
- Projects or Bulk Recordings: No Project/Bulk Recordings will be allowed during the last five business days of each month.
- Recording Fee: The Regular System Recording fee will increase $5.00 per document. The Land Court document recording fees will not be affected.
- Good Funds: Documents will not be submitted unless escrow has good funds in hand two business days prior to recordation.

I am happy to announce The Moore Estate (which sold for $10M) is no longer available. There is one other beachfront estate available “Hanalei Kahakai Hale”. This is a rare opportunity to acquire one of Hanalei Bay’s premier spots. Contact me for more information.

Hawaiian Language 101 May 26, 2009
Posted by Sarah in : Updates , add a commentThe Hawaiian Language is a very beautiful language. When visiting the Hawaiian Islands, it can be a bit confusing, so here are some basic facts about the language to assist you in pronouncing the names and/or places you are visiting.
The Hawaiian Language only has seven (7) Consonants:
p, k, h, l, m, n, and w
When the “w” is after “i” and “e”, it is pronounced like a “v”
When the “w” is after “u” and “o”, it is pronounced like a “w”
One of the punctuations may throw you, but it is pretty easy.
If you see ‘ between letters, it is a glottal stop, similar to the sound between the oh’s as in oh-oh.
Vowels:
A sounds like the a in above
E sounds like the e in bet, if it is marked with a macron, it is pronounced like ay as in pay
I sounds like the y in city, if it is marked with a macron, it is pronounced like ee as in see
O sounds like the o in solo, if it is marked with a macron, it is pronounced like o in sole
U sounds like the oo in moon
