Listings Expire While Under Contract?

Did you know that listings do not automatically expire while under contract?
If you have a listing where the contract expires during the escrow period, to be on the safe side and protect your commission, you should renew the listing agreement, just in case the escrow doesn’t close.

I’m confused. Tip says “listings DO NOT automatically expire while under contract” then goes on to recommend renewing the listing while in escrow to protect your commission. So do they or don’t they automatically expire while under contract??
